George C. W. Gatch

George C. W. Gatch is CEO of J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s global funds and global institutional businesses. He is also a member of the operating committee of JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s asset and wealth management line of business. Previously, as CEO of global funds management, Gatch led J.P. Morgan’s mutual fund complexes in Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Europe. In 2005, he launched global funds’ US mutual fund platform, which he led for a decade. Earlier in his career, Gatch served as president and CEO of Japan’s DKB Morgan, and established J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s subadvisory and institutional mutual funds businesses. He joined J.P. Morgan in 1986. Gatch serves as chairman of the Investment Company Institute. He is also on the Investment Committee and Board of Directors for the Cathedral School of St. John the Divine in New York, as well as serving as a board member of New York’s Mohonk Preserve. William F. “Ted” Truscott

William F. “Ted” Truscott is CEO of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a leading global asset manager that provides a broad range of actively managed investment strategies and solutions for individual, institutional, and corporate clients around the world. Truscott serves on several boards across the Columbia Threadneedle and Ameriprise Financial businesses. In addition, he serves as vice chairman of the Investment Company Institute’s Board of Governors and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Middlebury College. Truscott earned a bachelor’s degree in East Asian studies from Middlebury College and an MBA in finance from New York University, Stern School of Business. Eric J. Pan

Eric J. Pan is the president and chief executive officer of the Investment Company Institute. He took office as the 10th chief executive in ICI’s history on November 9, 2020. Pan was previously a managing director of Rock Creek Global Advisors LLC, an international economic policy advisory firm in Washington, DC, and a senior research fellow at the Center for Law and Economic Studies at Columbia Law School in New York. Pan served as the director of the Office of International Affairs at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission from 2015 to 2019 and head of international regulatory policy at the US Securities and Exchange Commission from 2011 to 2015. He represented both market regulators in international standard-setting bodies, including the International Organization of Securities Commissions and Financial Stability Board, and in regulatory dialogues with European and Asian counterparts. Before entering government service, Pan was the director of the Heyman Center on Corporate Governance and a professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York, where he wrote extensively about financial regulation and corporate law. He also practiced corporate and international law with Covington & Burling in Washington, DC. Pan is a graduate of Harvard College, the University of Edinburgh, and the Harvard Law School. Donald C. Auerbach

Donald C. Auerbach is chief operating officer of the Investment Company Institute. As COO, his duties include overseeing management of the Institute’s administrative functions and acting as liaison to the Board of Governors. He first joined ICI in 2004 in the government affairs department, and was appointed chief government affairs officer and co-head, government affairs, in March 2009. Before joining ICI, Auerbach worked for Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) on the staff of the House Financial Services Committee. He also served as a staff member at Federal Financial Analytics, a Washington consultancy. He holds a BA in history from the University of California at Los Angeles, a JD from the American University’s Washington College of Law, and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. Marty Burns

Marty Burns is chief industry operations officer of the Investment Company Institute. He joined ICI in 2006, and as senior director for operations and distribution was responsible for facilitating middle- and back-office initiatives with industry stakeholders, and collaborating with stakeholders to pursue and achieve related regulatory, legislative, and public policy goals. A veteran of the financial services industry with more than three decades of experience working for government, private, and public enterprises, Burns also has managed securities processing and operations, asset securitizations, and banking regulation. Jennifer Choi

Jennifer S. Choi is chief counsel of ICI Global and is responsible for leading the Institute’s global policy work on cross-border legal and regulatory matters affecting ICI and its members. Choi has held various international roles within ICI, including associate general counsel for global capital markets policy and associate counsel for international policy. In addition to her role at ICI, she serves as an adjunct professor of law at American University’s Washington College of Law, teaching regulation of mutual funds and investment advisers. Earlier in her career, Choi worked in an international policy role at the Investment Adviser Association. From 1995 to 1999, she held various positions at the US Securities and Exchange Commission, including assistant director in the Division of Investment Management and special counsel in the Division of Market Regulation (now the Division of Trading and Markets). At the SEC, she also received the Martha Platt Award for dedication, excellence, and integrity. Choi graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in economics, cum laude, and from the National Law Center at George Washington University, with highest honors. Sean Collins

Sean Collins is chief economist at the Investment Company Institute (ICI). He oversees the Institute's statistical collections and its research on US and global funds, financial markets, the US retirement market, and investor demographics. His research and analysis focuses on the flows, assets, fees, and industrial organization of registered investment companies; financial market issues; the costs and benefits of laws and regulations governing funds; money market funds; and financial stability. He has held several roles at ICI, most recently senior director of industry and financial analysis. Before joining ICI in 2000, Collins was a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Board and an economist at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, where he participated on the RBNZ's Monetary Policy Committee. He is a current member of the Group of Economic Advisers (GEA) to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). Thomas T. Kim

Thomas T. Kim is managing director of the Independent Directors Council. In leading IDC, Kim advances the education, governance, communication, and public policy priorities of independent directors on the boards of regulated investment companies. Before joining IDC, he served as senior vice president at the Mortgage Bankers Association, where he led strategy, public policy, governance, and member engagement across the organization’s commercial real estate finance membership. Previously, he managed regulatory and policy matters affecting capital markets and mortgage investments as associate general counsel at Freddie Mac. Kim is a veteran of ICI, having served as associate counsel at the Institute earlier in his career. He received his BA, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine; JD from the UCLA School of Law, where he served as a law review editor; and LLM, with distinction, from the Georgetown University Law Center. Alexa Lam

Alexa Lam is chief executive of Asia-Pacific for ICI Global. She previously was professor of legal practices at the University of Hong Kong, where she will continue to be a visiting professor. Lam was a longtime official at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), where she most recently served as deputy CEO and executive director for investment products, international, and China. She actively promoted financial cooperation between Hong Kong and China on capital market opening, new reform policies, and cross-border market innovations, including the Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (RQFII) and Mutual Recognition of Funds programs. Lam has 20 years of experience in corporate and commercial law practice in Hong Kong, Chicago, and New York, and holds law degrees from the University of Hong Kong (UHK) and the London School of Economics. Mike McNamee

Mike McNamee is chief public communications officer of the Investment Company Institute. Joining ICI in 2006, McNamee first served as director of media relations and then as senior director, policy writing and editorial. Before joining ICI, McNamee was deputy Washington bureau chief at BusinessWeek, where he held numerous positions during his long tenure. He also worked as Washington economics correspondent for the Dallas Morning News, economics reporter at USA Today, and business editor of the Indianapolis Star. Susan Olson

Susan Olson is general counsel of the Investment Company Institute, serving as the Institute's chief legal officer, with responsibility for the full range of legal and regulatory matters affecting the Institute and its members. She joined ICI as senior counsel, international affairs, in 2007, and served as chief counsel of ICI Global since 2014. Before joining ICI, Olson served in the Division of Investment Management at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). At the SEC, Olson worked in the international branch of the division’s Office of the Chief Counsel, where she resolved legal issues arising under the Investment Company Act and the Investment Advisers Act, and provided guidance for trade negotiations. She also participated as an SEC representative on the International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO) Standing Committee 5, focusing on the regulation of mutual funds and other collective investment vehicles. Before joining the Commission, Olson worked in private practice. She received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and her law degree from the University of Virginia. Dean R. Sackett III

Dean R. Sackett III joined ICI in June 2000 as a lobbyist and headed the financial services practice group before being appointed chief government affairs officer and co-head, government affairs, in March 2009. He became the sole head of government affairs and chief government affairs officer in January 2019. Previously, Sackett served as vice president and led the government affairs department of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA). Before serving at PIA, he worked for Rep. Bob Livingston (R-LA) as a legislative assistant, and for the House Appropriations Committee as senior Republican staff on the Foreign Operations Subcommittee. In that capacity, Sackett helped craft and oversee a $14 billion foreign-aid bill.
